Taget från Parelli Horsemanship på FaceBook, en anledning att vara med där..
What Is The Savvy Way To Toss A Carrot Stick?
Carrot Stick Tossing Savvy
As you know, there’s a savvy way to do everything – from catching to haltering to saddling – even to tossing a carrot stick. Grab a friend (or friends) and practice your carrot stick tossing technique to get more comfortable and handier with your tools, and also to prepare yourself just in case Pat Parelli ever asks you to toss him that stick:
Rest the end of your carrot stick’s handle in one hand, and the middle of the stick in the other. The lower hand – the one on the handle – will provide the launch, and the upper hand will control the direction and angle at which the stick will travel.
Make sure you direct the stick UPWARD when you toss – you want it to travel in a high arc – NOT like a spear!
When you’re ready, launch with your lower hand and let your upper hand guide the stick in the direction
you want. Just try it, see what happens, and then adjust accordingly the next time if it doesn’t work quite right. Don’t forget to laugh!
As you get more comfortable, here are some things to try:
Try to get the stick to turn slightly in the air so that the handle comes down towards your partner, making it easier for them to catch.
Try greater distances – how far can you toss and still be accurate enough for your partner to catch?
Try it on horseback (make sure your horse is OK with it on the ground first!).
Try two sticks at once – your partner and you each have one, and you toss to each other at the same time.
The possibilities are endless…be creative, have fun, and grow your savvy all at the same time!
Kanske man skulle ta med stickar till jobbet och locka ut tonåringarna;) Känns inte realisitiskt, det är ju trots allt ett högstadium och de har sin image att tänka på och det gör de :). Får nog försöka locka Parellidamerna istället.
